"He can't help it, 'cause we're buddies," Caleb says, affecting a playful, baby-talk tone as he turns his attention to Kirby. "Hey, Buddy-face, what're you doing?" He gives loves and neck-scruffs to the dog, accepts the few eager kisses Kirby dares to give, and generally makes an idiot of himself for the sake of dog loves.
